How Does An HRV System Work?

Being able to supply your home with a steady supply of fresh air has always been a bit problematic during the colder winter months, at least if you want to keep your home warm and comfortable. However, with HRV systems, incoming fresh, cool air is moved through the unit which has already been heated by hot exhaust air coming out of your home. This exhaust air is then drawn out of circulation from your home through your heating system’s existing cold air return and ducts, and into your HRV system where the returning hot air and the fresh cool air allow heat to transfer without mixing sources. This warms the fresh air as it goes into circulation throughout your home, and cools the stale air being vented back outside of the house, giving you a constant supply of fresh, clean air inside your home without inviting in the chill.
